Internationally acclaimed sound-master Fergie will unleash his beats upon Funktion Nite Club in Enniscrone when he visits Sligo this Sunday May 4.

Fergie played his first set at the age of 14 in his native Larne. Allegedly a milk crate was used so that he could reach the decks.

Being underage, he was soon ejected from the premises by the police.

Through the 1990s he played at clubs across the UK including Sundissential and Godskitchen. He was also popular in Ibiza, DJing at some of the party islands top clubs such as: Privilege, Space and Bora Bora.

Fergie, who hails from Larne, in County Antrim, told Ocean FM’s Ciaran Carty about what he’s been up to recently.

“It’s a couple of years since I left radio (he held a six year residency on Radio 1), and I have been in the studio which has been my main focus. I also went back to college would you believe, where I done a music production course.”

Initially playing hard house in his early career, he is now better known for breaks and techno.

“At the minute I am playing anything from house to techno, but I am a music-lover through and through so I like all kinds of sounds. People going out in clubs like variation and its important that DJ’s offer clubbers their money worth.”

He described his best gig of the year as playing Mandela Hall at Queen’s Student Union in Belfast, and is looking forward to playing in Sligo.

“My best gig this year was the Mandela Hall in Belfast definitely. It was amazing and one of my best gigs in a long time, I always enjoy coming back home for gigs.

“I’m looking forward to playing Funktion in Enniscrone, as part of a few sets I’ve got across the country.”
