City United 3
Merville United 1

The Sligo-Leitrim League top-scorer, Gareth Kelly, hit a brace for his current team against his former side to secure the Champions Cup for City United at MacSharry Park on Sunday.
Kelly put City ahead midway through the first half and then sealed the win in the second period, as City came from a goal down to beat Merville United 3-1.
A week after Carbury’s Paul Masterson had scored the quickest cup goal at MacSharry Park in the Robert Cawley Cup final, Merville nearly equalled the record with an equally blistering start.
David Blaine’s hopeful effort forced a save from City keeper David Scanlon inside the opening minute, but Stephen Hallihan was on-hand to slip the rebound to the net.
But Super League champions City were level on 19 minutes, when centre-back Packie Callaghan rose highest to head Barry McLoughlin’s corner to the net for the equaliser.
They took the lead soon after, when Kelly – who scored 17 times for Merville earlier this year before switching to City – rifled a shot to the net from outside the area.
And it was Kelly that sealed the win for City in the second half, as he was left unmarked at the back-post to control Paul Lynch’s deep cross and fire past Emmett Foley for the third.
