Having enjoyed a successful cup season so far by qualifying for the semi-finals of the EA Sports Cup, Sligo Rovers will get their Ford FAI Cup campaign underway with a third round tie against Cork City this Friday.
It will be the second of four cup competitions that Rovers will take part in this season – with the Europa League and the Setanta Sports Cup still to come.
Rovers will have full-back Alan Keane back from suspension, but Romuald Boco remains on international duty with Benin, while Stephen Parkhouse and Sean Doherty remain on the injured list.
Conor O’Grady and Jason Noctor may also be banned for Friday’s tie, following recent sendings-off.
Cork defeated Rovers when the sides met at the start of May, but the Lee-siders’ form has been patchy in recent weeks, and they are without a win in three games in the Premier Division.
Friday’s game kicks-off in Turners Cross at 7.45pm and will be refereed by Mark Gough from Limerick.
The Bit O’ Red Supporters Trust are running a bus to the game, leaving at 1pm from The Showgrounds. The cost will be €30 and the bus will return to Sligo straight after the game. Contact 0861535500 for details.
