Sligo Rovers will be holding a 7-a-side competition for the Packie McGowan Memorial Cup in June. The competition will be run over two weeks beginning on Tuesday, June 16, and it is limited to 32 teams. The winners of the Packie McGowan Memorial Cup will also receive a first prize of €1,000 with the runners-up receiving €300.
Teams are to be made up of a panel of ten players (seven starting and three substitutes) and no current League of Ireland players or players aged under 16 are allowed to take part.
The cost of entry per team is €150 and this is to be paid before Friday, June 12. There will be eight groups of four teams with every team guaranteed three matches. The top two teams qualify for the play-offs. Games will be 15 minutes a-side.
Running alongside will be a penalty shootout competition against one of Sligo Rovers goalkeepers. The cost of entry for this is €10 with each entrant getting five penalties and the top three competitors will go onto to contest the final, which will be held at half-time during a Sligo Rovers match with the winner receiving a cash prize of €200.
