LEADING German journalist Kristine Bilkau was in Sligo over the weekend, researching a number of articles she is planning to write for some of Germany’s top publications, including the Financial Times (Germany) and Capital magazine, which have a combined circulation of 370,000 readers.
Invited here by Tourism Ireland in Frankfurt, her itinerary included The Glasshouse hotel as well as the Voya Seaweed Baths in Strandhill.
Kristina Gauges, Tourism Ireland Germany, said: “Increasingly, the island of Ireland is becoming known for the high quality of its spas and the health and wellness experience on offer here.
“This type of holiday very much appeals to the German consumer and with the development of so many top-class facilities around Ireland, health and wellness is one of the themes being promoted by Tourism Ireland in Germany.”
The visit is part of Tourism Ireland’s press visit programme, which aims to increase awareness of Sligo and the North West among key journalists and opinion-formers overseas, and ultimately potential holidaymakers.
