Capture the Magic of Christmas at Santatown
Posted online: Nov 25th, 2009
THIS year’s Santatown in Sligo Folk Park, Riverstown, promises to be a festive treat for all the family.
Since the first Santatown in 2002, the annual event has become a fixture in the diaries for many families from throughout Ireland in the build up to Christmas
Over the next few weeks the finishing touches to the winter wonderland that is Santatown will be added by staff at Sligo Folk Park who will be assisted by directors and volunteers from the local community.
As ever Santa will make an appearance on stage, before taking up residence in his grotto where he will be available to meet every child and present them with a quality gift.
The festive atmosphere will be complemented by the Riverstown Carol Singers who will be singing all your favourite Christmas carols. Children can also write their letters to Santa and post them in the special post box.
Speaking at the Launch, Santa said: “I am delighted to be coming back to Riverstown for Santatown. It is such a fun event and it’s great to meet all the boys and girls.
“Event though I am very busy at this time of year it just wouldn’t be Christmas without Santatown!”
On a more serious note Santa confirmed that he has taken action to ensure that both Santatown and Christmas will not have any disruptions as he explained “Both myself and Rudolf have had our swine flu vaccinations. Rudolf was very brave and didn’t cry! I would hope that everyone has had their vaccination so that no one is sick at Christmas.”
Santatown will take place over the two weekends of December 12 and13 and 19 and 20 along with Monday December 21. Show times on Saturdays and Sundays are at 3pm and 5pm. There will be one show on Monday 21 at 7pm.
As ever, owing to Santatown’s popularity, advance booking is essential.
