Mystery surrounds lotto winner

THE solo winner of Saturday’s €4 million Lotto jackpot still remains mystery after the ticket was sold in the Excel Stop Shop in Stephen Street.
The massive prize so far gone unclaimed so the identity of the secret millionaire is not yet known but shop owner Councillor Matt Lyon (FG) says it would be nice if it was a Sligo native.
“It would be great if the money went to some local Lotto player but they might not even know they’ve won yet,” he said.
And he now expects a boost in Lotto sales. “Traditionally if a shop sells the winning ticket, there is a boost in sales there so hopefully that is the case.
“I was at a wedding on Saturday and I tired to do the Lotto myself but I was too late and the machine was off in the shop, but little did I know that the winning ticket was sold in my shop.”
“It’s a great for us. We’ve had a few customers have a few big wins in the past but nothing this big.”
The €3 quick-pick ticket was sold on Saturday afternoon and the lucky recipient will receive €4 million, after the National Lottery added a €2 million bonus in the run-up to Christmas. The shop also receives €10,000 as the lucky seller.
